Teaching Studio

Sharing the gift of music is one of the greatest joys, and I am passionate about teaching this art. Whether you are an adult who wishes they’d paid attention in piano classes as a child, or a parent with a child who is interested in something other than the more standard instruments, learning music can be a fulfilling part of everyone’s life.

My teaching philosophy is grounded in the idea that music should be fun and something the student looks forward to. Lessons are filled with many different styles of music, depending on what the student wants to learn. However, throughout it all, I teach a firm foundation in good technique, music theory, ear training, and above all, musicality.

If you are interested in learning more, please contact me and I will do my best to answer your questions.

While harp lessons are what I normally teach, I can also teach piano, theory, or a combination thereof to suit the student’s needs.

Lesson Set-up

Lessons are usually either 30 minutes or 1 hour. I teach specific to the needs of my students, using a variety of method books to tailor a personalized curriculum.
I generally travel to my students for lessons, though other accommodations can be made.

Lesson Policies

Lesson fees are based on length of lesson and travel time. Lessons are generally weekly, and payment is due at the beginning of each month for the month. If a lesson needs to be missed, I am happy to have a make up lesson as long as there is at least two weeks notice.

Finding a Harp

Finding a harp may seem challenging, but there are a few resources out there to help. If you aren’t ready to jump in and buy one, I own a few harps I rent out, and the Virginia Harp Center offers rental instruments as well as rent to own programs. I am happy to offer assistance in this process.
